NEWS RELEASECASTLE: COLM CONNOLLY NOMINATED FOR JUDGESHIPPosted: Feb. 26, 2008 U.S. Rep. Michael N. Castle announced the nomination of U.S. Attorney Colm F. Connolly by the Bush administration to the U.S. District Court in Delaware. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate for a lifetime appointment, Connolly would fill a vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Kent A. Jordan to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Castle, an eight-term Republican, issued the following statement: "Colm Connolly is as highly qualified as an previous nominee to the U.S. District Court in Delaware. His extensive experience as the U.S. attorney for Delaware is commensurate with the distinguished members currently sitting on our District Court, and with his background and knowledge of the legal system, I am confident in his nomination. "This court is important to the economy and commerce of our state, and yet the judgeship has been vacant for the past year. Under the current political atmosphere in Washington, I have doubts that he will be confirmed quickly but am hopeful that the Senate will be cooperative to the process." ### |
