STATE GOP: LEADERS AT NATIONAL SESSION IN NEW YORK

New York -- Delaware’s Republican Party leadership plays an active role in planning the 2004 Republican National Convention.

State Chairman Terry A. Strine, National Committeeman W. Laird Stabler Jr., National Committeewoman Priscilla B. Rakestraw and Executive Director Troy A. Brocco participated in the Republican National Committee's Summer Meeting, July 23 through 26 in New York City.

“Victory in 2004 begins here in New York City!” Rakestraw said.

Rakestraw is a member of the Arrangements Committee for the 2004 Republican National Convention in Madison Square Garden from August 30 through September 2. The Arrangements Committee is responsible for designing and presenting all facets of the Republican National Convention.

“We’re confident the convention will be one of the most successful in our party’s history,” Rakestraw said. “This will launch President Bush’s successful campaign for a second term as our nation’s leader. This President has a special relationship with New York City and we salute the strength and determination of the citizens of this exciting and diverse city.”

Rakestraw and Strine were given an escorted tour of Madison Square Garden Friday.

“I cannot wait to see Madison Square Garden filled to capacity with Republicans ready to support our President,” Strine said. “I’m especially excited about the role the First State will be playing in re-electing our great leader.”
