GORDON & FREEBERY: RESPONSE TO NEUBERGER

Posted: Oct. 31, 2003

New Castle County Executive Thomas P. Gordon and Chief Administrative Officer Sherry L. Freebery issued this statement after a press conference held by Thomas S. Neuberger, a Wilmington attorney representing Lynda R. Maloney and Maria A. Rendina, former county executive assistants:

Today’s press conference was a bizarre theater of the absurd.  Mr. Neuberger’s allegations included an international conspiracy to access his home and office computers, and a local criminal conspiracy, occurring on mischief night, to place dog defecation upon his automobile…. All somehow linked to County government.  The County Executive and the Chief Administrative Officer patently deny any truth to any of Neuberger’s allegations: they have no link to Peking, Communist China, no link to dogs visiting Neuberger’s vehicle, nor is there any link to any truth in Maloney’s and Rendina’s similarly unbelievable claims.

Ms. Maloney and Ms. Rendina are celebrating Halloween with dirty trick-or-treats… they want handouts from the government’s bag of goodies.

For the record, Mr. Neuberger falsely stated that these two former employees lost their pensions.  They did not; they are vested and will receive pensions.  They have not applied for their pensions and the County welcomes their applications.
