State Senator
Robert L. Venables, Sr., D-Laurel, was one of 70 state legislators
from across the nation who met with President George W. Bush at the
White House on December 16th to discuss the need for lower taxes and
smaller government. The meeting was organized by Americans for Tax
Reform and also included a briefing on national tax policy by White
House Senior Advisor Karl Rove.
The meeting
was held in conjunction with the third annual "State Legislative
Advisory Project" and was organized by Americans for Tax Reform, the
nation’s leading taxpayer advocacy organization. Senator Venables
was the only Delaware legislator in attendance.
Grover
Norquist, president of the organization, said of the attendees at
Tuesday’s event, "I know these individuals will continue to fight
the good fight and help America remain the land of freedom. Their
efforts and success are truly advancing the cause of liberty and I
thank them once again."
