CLARK
CAMPAIGN: REP. WILLIAMS ENDORSES
Posted: Jan. 5, 2004
Today the Clark campaign
announced that State Representative Dennis P. Williams will endorse
Wes Clark’s bid for the presidency.
“Wes Clark cares about
the issues that concern my constituents—jobs, education, health
care, making ends meet, and cleaning up the mess in Iraq,” said
Representative Williams. “His Family First Tax Reform Plan will give
tax relief to every taxpaying family making under $100,000 and
families of four making under $50,000 will not pay any federal
income taxes at all. In Delaware this will make a huge difference.
More than 68,000 families will get a tax cut and almost 6,000
families will pay no federal income tax at all. Wes Clark clearly
has the courage to do what’s right. He will bring a higher standard
of leadership to the White House.”
"I am delighted that
Representative Williams has endorsed my campaign,” Clark said. “He
spent his career helping others. His expertise in crime, homeland
security and urban renewal issues will be invaluable to my
campaign.”
Before entering politics,
Dennis P. Williams served as a criminal investigator with the
Wilmington City Police, and he also was a member of the Delaware
Violent Crimes Commission and a deputy director for Downtown
Visions, Wilmington’s Business Improvement District.
In 1995 Rep. Williams was
elected to represent Wilmington’s 1st District in the State House of
Representatives, a position he has held ever since. He belongs to
the Delaware Black Caucus of elected officials.
